HPCA Distinguished Service Award
Wes Otani was awarded the Hawaii Pest Control Association (HPCA) Distinguished Service Award during its September 2018 annual conference. The award is special recognition because individuals are nominated by association members, says Tim Lyons, HPCA executive director.
Otani received many favorable comments in his nomination,” Lyons says, including the following quotes:
- “Wes is always so helpful.”
- “Wes is very knowledgeable, and we can ask him anything.”
- “Wes is always available and a great resource.”
- “We know we can always call on him for help and he will come through.”
- “Wes should be given this award because he is a stud in the industry!”
Lyons adds that this award is notable because the association does not present one each year, but only when an individual has made extra effort to help the structural pest control industry in Hawaii. In the past 25 years, only 19 individuals have been so honored and the last time it was made was in 2015. Further, an individual can be given this award once.
Otani is a business development manager for Douglas Products. He joined the company in 2015. Previously, he served as a regional manager with Terminix, and was an industrial sales representative with BEI Hawaii. Otani holds a BA degree in Horticulture Business from the University of Hawaii – Manoa.

He is committed to the pest management industry and the professional development of those he serves.”
